Explaining scientific topics to non-specialists requires a new hand of skills, such as storytelling, clarification of scientific concepts (e.g. with visual metaphors) or using specific methods of illustration to raise empathy and recognition.

This project was the final assignment for a course on Science Dissemination for Children and it had a collaboration with WAWA Conservation. The goal was to build and design a storyline to raise awareness of endangered species conservation for a young audience (from 12 years old). For this project, I not only made the illustration but also created the story and wrote the text.  Below, you can see part of my process:

  1. Research to find out the main characteristics and interesting points to build a story;
  2. The storyboard with the main points, and later the text of the story;
  3. Refining of Illustration.

Do you need help explaining your latest findings or raising awareness for a specific scientific topic?
